Get your Kard seen
Six steps that put a new Kard in front of people, on your Kards list and its Share tab, each ticked off by what really happened.
A Kard works once people open it: each visit is someone who can save your contact in one tap. So a new Kard comes with a short list, "Get your Kard seen", at the top of your Kards list and of the Kard's Share tab. It counts what's done ("2 of 6 done"), says what to do next, and puts the buttons for each step right beside it.
The six steps
- Add a photo: a photo of you, or your logo, so people put a face to your name when they look you up later. "Add a photo" opens Edit Kard at the photo.
- Send it in a chat: your link to people you've met lately. "WhatsApp" opens WhatsApp with your link written out, for you to pick who gets it; on a computer, "Email" and "Copy link" sit beside it, and on a phone, "Other apps…" opens the phone's share sheet.
- Add it to your email signature: "Make my signature" opens the signature page, and the step is done once you copy it (Your email signature).
- Put your QR on your lock screen, or print a few cards: "Lock screen" or "Print cards", done once you download either (A lock-screen wallpaper, Print your card).
- Your first visit: counted when someone opens your Kard. Sending it is the quickest way to get one.
- Your first contact: when someone sends you their details from your Kard, they're kept in Contacts.
How it ticks
You never tick a step yourself: each one is ticked by what happened. The Share tab's own buttons count as much as the list's: its WhatsApp and Email chips, "Copy" beside your link, and "Share via…" on a phone, as does "Share Kard" on your Kards list. The first visit and the first contact tick themselves, with the day, as in "First visit on 14 Oct". A first contact is someone who sent their details, shared their card back or booked through the Kard; people you typed in or scanned yourself don't count.
A done step stays on the list as a single line with a link on: "Photo added" with "Change it", "Sent in a chat" with "Send it again", and so on. If your Kard's contact-sharing popup is off, the last step says so, since visitors can then save you but can't send you their details, and offers "Turn the popup on" (Kard settings).
Which Kard, and when it goes
Your Kards list shows it for the newest Kard you hold with steps left and a list you haven't hidden, with the Kard's name above it when you hold more than one; each Kard's Share tab shows its own. Only the Kard's holder sees the list. On a team, an admin's sends tick the holder's list too.
Once all six are done, the list goes for good. "Hide this list" at its foot hides it sooner, after asking "Hide “Get your Kard seen” for good? The email signature, printable card and lock-screen wallpaper stay on the Share tab." A hidden list doesn't come back.
Three days after a new account's first Kard, if nobody has opened it yet, one email comes: "Three ways to get your Kard seen this week", with three of these steps. Its switch is "Tips to Get Your Kard Seen" in Email preferences (Emails from your card).
