A lock-screen wallpaper

Your name and QR code under your phone's clock: wake it, hold it up, and people scan it to save your contact. iPhone and Android. Free.

Your phone is in your hand when you meet someone. A wallpaper made from your Kard puts your name, job title, company and QR code on your lock screen, under the clock: wake your phone and hold it up, and the other person points their camera at it and saves your contact, without you unlocking your phone or opening an app. The code opens your Kard as it is that day. Free on every plan.

Make it

  1. Open Kards, pick a card, and on the Share tab, under "Lock-screen wallpaper", press "Make my lock-screen wallpaper".
  2. Under "Colours", pick "Your Kard's colours" (the colours of your Kard's layout), "Light", "Dark" or "Terracotta".
  3. The preview shows it on a phone, roughly as your lock screen will: the clock above, your code below.
  4. Press "Get it for iPhone" or "Get it for Android". The iPhone picture is 1290 × 2796, which every iPhone fits to its screen; the Android picture is 1440 × 3200, which fits most Android phones.

The top of the picture stays clear for the date, the clock and widgets, and the bottom for the torch and camera buttons; your words and code sit between them. Under the code are "Scan to save my contact" and your Kard's address, for anyone who'd rather type it. The code is your QR studio's, as it looks on your Share tab (Your QR code), and the name, job title and company come from Edit Kard. After changing either, get the wallpaper again.

Set it as your lock screen

  • iPhone: when the picture opens, press and hold it and choose "Save to Photos". In Photos, open it, tap "Share", then "Use as Wallpaper", then "Add", and choose "Set as Wallpaper Pair".
  • Android: open the picture from your downloads. Tap "⋮", then "Use as" or "Set as wallpaper" (the words differ from phone to phone), and choose "Lock screen".

The page carries the same steps under "Setting it as your lock screen", so you can follow them on the phone itself.

So the code scans

  • Set the picture as it comes, without zooming in: zooming can push the code off the screen.
  • If someone's camera doesn't pick the code up, turn your screen's brightness up.
  • Notifications covering the code on an iPhone? In Settings, then Notifications, set "Display As" to "Count".
Good to know

If your Kard uses letters the wallpaper's fonts don't have, the page says which ones and asks you to change them in Edit Kard. On a team, the Kard's holder and the team's admins can each make its wallpaper.

More ways to hand your card over in person: Print your card, and for calls, A video-call background.
