A video-call background

Your name, job title and QR code behind you on Zoom, Teams and Meet, for people to scan off their screen. Free.

On a video call, nobody can take your card. A background made from your Kard puts your name, job title and QR code behind you on Zoom, Teams and Meet: people on the call point their phone at their screen to save your contact, and the code opens your Kard as it is that day. Free on every plan.

Make it

  1. Open Kards, pick a card, and on the Share tab, under "Video-call background", press "Make my video background".
  2. Under "Colours", pick "Your Kard's colours" (the colours of your Kard's layout), "Light", "Dark" or "Terracotta".
  3. Under "Where your name and code sit", pick "Both sides" (your name top left, the code top right, you in the middle between them), "Left" or "Right" (both down one side, the rest of the picture clear for you). A long name or job title has the most room on Both sides.
  4. The preview shows it as the people on the call see it. Press "Download 1920 × 1080", which suits Zoom, Teams and Meet, or "Download 1280 × 720" for an app that asks for that size.

The name, job title and company come from Edit Kard, and the code is your QR studio's, as it looks on your Share tab (Your QR code). After changing either, download the background again.

Set it as your background

  • Zoom: in the Zoom app, open "Settings", then "Background & effects". Under Virtual backgrounds, choose "+", then "Add image", and pick the file.
  • Microsoft Teams: before you join a call, open the background options under your video preview ("Effects and avatars", or "Background filters"), choose "Add new" and pick the file.
  • Google Meet: on your video preview, select "Apply visual effects", then "Backgrounds", and the "+" to upload the file.
Good to know

The words look backwards in your own video? Zoom, Teams and Meet show you yourself mirrored, as a mirror would. Everyone else sees your background the right way round, so use the image as it is, without flipping it.

So the code scans

Sit in the middle of the picture, so you don't cover your name or the code. If someone's phone doesn't pick the code up, ask them to make your video bigger: full screen, or pinned. The address under the code is there for anyone who'd rather type it.
