Take bookings from your Kard

Turn on online booking and your cards get a Book button. Clients pick a time with no account and no app.

Your card is already where people find you, so it can be where they book you too. Turn on online booking and every card behind your calendar gets a Book button. It opens a booking page where a visitor picks what they want, who with (when you have a team) and a time, then leaves a name and a phone number or email. They need no account and no app, and they get a link to change or cancel. The page speaks the visitor's language and writes times its way: 13:00 in French, German, Spanish or Portuguese, 13.00 in Indonesian, and in English, Hindi or Arabic a 12-hour clock (1:00 PM in English) where their phone or country reads one, else 13:00. It works the same for one person taking calls and for a salon with a team.

Turn it on

  1. Open Take bookings on your Kard under "More tools" in the sidebar (once bookings are set up it reads Calendar).
  2. Setup asks what kind of business you run, who takes bookings (for a team), your opening hours and what people can book. The kind of business sets the words visitors see and sensible defaults; you can change both later.
  3. Under what people can book, decide whether you confirm each one yourself. "Confirm each appointment yourself" ("meeting" for a consultant, "booking" for home services) starts off, and people are booked straight away. On, online bookings arrive as requests you approve or decline, with the time held for them while you decide; each service keeps its own switch afterwards.
  4. Press "Save and go live". Book appears on your cards straight away.

Set up your calendar walks through each step, and the rest of this chapter covers running it day to day.

Where Book appears

A personal calendar puts Book on your personal cards; once two or more people on it take online bookings, yours offers "Anyone free" and each person (A business with staff). A team's calendar puts it on every card of the team: the main card books anyone on the team, and a team member's card that is linked to them books that person, so it reads "Book with Priya" and opens their times.

The button says what your business does: "Book appointment" for salons and clinics, "Book a call" for consultants, "Book a treatment" for spas, "Book a lesson" for tutors, "Book a session" for fitness and tattoo studios, and "Book now" otherwise. When everything on your booking page needs your approval first, it says "Request a booking" (Requests and advances).

Every look makes Book the main action in its own style. On Default it takes the bar at the bottom, with Save beside it; the Exchange button moves to just above the footer, and the exchange sheet still opens by itself as people scroll. Links puts it at the top of the list, Restaurant under your name, Letterhead in the black block, Jharokha in a gold row above Save contact, Mohur in a red bar above Call, WhatsApp and Save, and Yantra on a light key above the others. Choose a layout shows all seven.

When Book doesn't show

Book only shows when it leads somewhere a visitor can actually book. It stays hidden while online booking is paused, on any card where you've hidden it, and when nothing can be booked online: nothing is public, or nobody who does it takes online bookings. A team member's card follows that person, so it loses its button while they're away from online booking. Turn any of those back and the button returns; the card refreshes worldwide within a minute.

More ways in

  • After an exchange. When a visitor leaves their details on a card that takes bookings, the thank-you sheet offers a time with you straight away.
  • Scan to book. The QR studio (Kards → your card → Share → Customize QR) offers a second code in your design that opens the booking page instead of your card, labelled "Scan to book" in your Kard's main language (Your QR code). Put it at the counter, in the window or on appointment cards.
  • Your own design. A custom page gets the button with <a data-kard-action="book" data-kard="book_label">Book</a>. It shows only while you take bookings, so it's safe to leave in. Design your own page has the rest.

Counting bookings

The Analytics tab shows a Bookings panel on cards that take bookings, on every plan: how many bookings were made from that card, and bookings by day. Paid analytics adds how many of its views became bookings and how many visitors opened the booking page. Days follow your calendar's time zone, so each booking counts on the day it was made where you work.

Good to know

Open times are worked out fresh each time someone looks, and two people can never book the same person for the same time: whoever comes second is asked to pick another.
