Set up your calendar

A few questions and your booking page is live: what kind of business, who takes bookings, your hours and what people book. Pause any time.

Setup turns your Kard into a booking page in a few short steps. Open Calendar in the sidebar; the first time, if you could set up bookings for yourself or for an organization you run, it asks whose. Already running one? Start another from "Set up bookings" on a Kard's Booking tab, or the "Calendar" button on your organization's page. A calendar of your own takes four steps, an organization's five, because it also asks who takes bookings.

Each step saves as you go. If you stop part-way, Calendar opens your calendar with online booking still off; to finish, open Services (Meeting types for a consultant) and press "Start from the suggested list".

What kind of business

The first step offers nine kinds of business, from "Consulting & coaching" and "Salon, barber, nails & beauty" to "Something else". Your choice sets the words your pages use ("Services" and "Clients" for a salon, "Meeting types" and "Invitees" for a consultant), the button on your Kards ("Book appointment", "Book a call" and so on), starting rules such as how much notice you need, and which tools show. Salons, spas and clinics open on a day view of the team, with a Clients tab (Patients in a clinic), and salons and clinics take walk-ins; every other kind opens on a list of what's coming up.

Under the choices, one line shows your time zone and the currency for prices. Press "Change" if either is wrong: bookings, reminders and your hours all run on that time zone. If your kind of business asks clients for a phone number and your country isn't known yet, setup asks for it, so numbers typed without a country code can be read.

Who takes bookings

An organization's calendar asks "Who takes bookings?" next. Team members' Kards wait under "From your team Kards", each added in one tap with its name and title. "Add yourself" puts you on the team if clients book you too, and "Add someone without a Kard" needs only a name. Nobody has to sign up, and nobody needs a login to be booked; Your team takes it from there.

Your hours

Setup fills in typical hours for your kind of business, such as Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 19:00 for a salon. Switch days on or off and change the times; the plus button beside a day's times adds a second range, for a split shift or a lunch break. In an organization these are your opening hours: everyone on the team starts with them, and from then on each person's own hours decide when they can be booked. On a calendar of your own, they're the hours people can book you.

What people book, and going live

The next step is a starter list for your kind of business, grouped by category. Untick what you don't offer, and change the names, minutes and prices to yours; an empty price shows no price, and "+ Add your own" adds a line to any group. Have a printed price list? "Take a photo" or "Paste text" and the list fills in from it. You check every name, length and price before anything is added.

"Save and go live" saves the list and switches online booking on: your Kards get their Book button straight away. The last step, "Your booking link is live", has your link and every way to share it, which Share your booking link walks through. Descriptions, prep and cleanup time and who does what come later, under Services.

Pausing and changing your mind

To stop online booking for a while, open Settings, switch off "Online booking" and press "Save settings". The Book button leaves your Kards, and your booking link shows "Online booking is paused" with ways to call or message you. Existing appointments stay, and you can still book people yourself. Straight after you pause, the page offers "Undo"; later, switch it back on and save.

"Change kind of business", under "Your business" in Settings, picks another kind at any time. The words and the tools change with it; your services, team, clients, appointments, hours and rules stay exactly as they are.

Good to know

Running more than one calendar, such as your own and your organization's? "Calendar" opens the one you last picked, and "Switch" at the end of its tabs brings back the choice.
